I know we’re all have been looking for an easy chicken recipe these days so here I am with a super-easy Chicken 65 recipe, a spicy Indian chicken starter from South India served as an appetizer or party snack. This easy chicken 65 recipe has the most tender, delicious chicken. This Chicken dish is really perfect in so many ways. Since this is my first time posting a chicken dish ( i know I’m late but as far as I’m concerned, it’s never too late to enjoy a chicken dish anyway.) Hence, I’m beyond excited to share this recipe with y’all. This recipe is very straightforward. Marinating the Chicken for the incredible flavour. I cut the chicken in small cubes so that they cook faster and remain tender. then I season them with cumin seeds, chopped garlic, minced ginger, green chilli, dried red chilli, curry leaves, curd, tomato ketchup, red chilli sauce and black pepper powder. This clean, simple and healthy recipe of Chicken is super nutritious, flavorful, multi-textured, satisfying and has ah-mazing flavour as well. Most of the time, we serve it when having guests over, or we can make it for ourselves too. this recipe will always be a crowd-pleaser. What is chicken 65?

Chicken 65 is a deep-fried dish. Pieces of chicken 65 are coated with a marinade that includes vinegar, red chilli and ginger, coriander powder, black pepper powder, rice flour/ cornflour and then deep-fried for about half an hour.

Why is chicken 65 called chicken 65?

Well, there’s a great story behind this. This particular preparation of chicken was famous in Hyderabad. A particular restaurant had this dish as their speciality, and in that restaurant, this dish was on the 65th serial no. of their menu.

How to get rid of poultry smell from chicken?

To get rid of a poultry smell from chicken, Pour 1/2 a cup of white vinegar over the chicken and coat nicely. Leave aside for 4-5 minutes, or you can use lemon juice also. lemon works just as well as vinegar.

Ingredients
  

Marination

  • 400 g Chicken
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 pinch Red food color (optional)

Seaoning for CHICKEN 65

  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 7-8 Chopped garlic
  • 2 Inch Ginger
  • 10-12 curry leaves
  • 100 g Yoghurt
  • 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Red chilli sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pinch Red food colour (optional)

HOW TO COOK CHICKEN 65

STEP 1

Take 400g fresh boneless chicken. Clean it properly and cut into small cubes.

STEP 2

Marinate chicken with salt as required (I added ½ tsp), 1 tbsp lemon juice, ¼ tsp pepper powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, ½ tsp Garam masala powder, 1tbsp ginger-garlic paste, ½ tsp red chilli powder, 2 tbsp all-purpose flour ( you can add rice flour also), 2 tbsp cornflour. Mix very well. Add more salt if needed.

STEP 3

To another bowl, crack an egg and add 1 pinch red food colour (adding food colour is completely optional). Beat it. Afterwards, add it to chicken and mix well. Set aside for 30 mins to 45 mins. (longer the marinating time, the softer the chicken 65 will be.) ( If you wish to marinate this chicken overnight, Then add flours and egg later, just before frying.)

STEP 4

Heat the oil in a kadai or a deep pan. turn the flame on low and slide the chicken pieces one by one. after 5 mins, flip them one by one. fry them until they turn golden brown. ( fry in small batches.) Drain the chicken on a kitchen towel.

STEP 5

In a pan, add 2 tbsp vegetable oil, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, chopped garlic (5-6), 2 inches minced ginger, 2-3 green chilli, 3-4 dried red chilli. the flame should be at low. sauté for 2 mins.

STEP 6

Afterwards, add 10- 12 curry leaves, 100 g curd. stir everything very well.

STEP 7

Turn the flame to medium and add 1 tbsp tomato ketchup, 1 tbsp red chilli sauce, 1/4 tsp black pepper powder. mix well.

STEP 8

Then add salt as required ( i added 1/4 tsp) and 2 pinch food color if you feel the need for it. mix everything well.

STEP 9

Now, add the fried chicken and toss them well till the sauce coats all over them. (make sure the liquid needs to be absorbed by the chicken)

STEP 10

Serve Chicken 65 hot as an appetizer with raw onion slices or lemon wedges or you can shower fresh cilantro on it.
